Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicidality (CAMS) Community of Practice: CAMS and Substance Use

The CAMS Community of Practice is an ongoing learning and support network for clinicians who have completed training in the Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicidality (CAMS). Open to practitioners across disciplines and care settings, this group offers a space to deepen understanding, share real-world application strategies, and build confidence in delivering CAMS-aligned care.
In this session, Dr. Kevin Crowley will discuss strategies for using the Collaborative Assessment & Management of Suicidality Model when the client also has a substance use disorder. Participants will have the opportunity to discuss their own challenging CAMS cases and receive consultation from Dr. Crowley.
By the end of this presentation, participants should be able to:
1.) Understand the relationship between substance use and suicidal ideation.
2.) Identify strategies for using CAMS with clients who have a substance use disorder.
3.) Identify effective strategies for implementing CAMS with challenging cases.
It is recommended that Community of Practice participants have completed the Foundational Online Video and CAMS Consultation Calls.
1 continuing education credit approved through the Vermont Office of Professional Regulation for Allied Mental Health Practitioners, Licensed Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors, Psychoanalysts, Psychologists, and Social Workers.
Location: Remote.
Who should attend? Anyone who has completed CAMS training and wants to stay connected, grow their skills, and contribute to a supportive professional network.
