Building Skills for Compassionate, Evidence-Based Suicide Care
The Vermont Suicide Care in Healthcare Training Series supports healthcare providers in delivering compassionate, evidence-based care to individuals at risk for suicide. Funded by the Vermont Department of Mental Health through the Center of Excellence for Suicide Prevention, this training series offers practical tools and clinical approaches that align with national best practices.
Sessions are designed for a range of healthcare professionals, including primary care teams, emergency department staff, and mental health providers, and focus on key elements of effective suicide care, such as screening, risk assessment, safety planning, and treatment pathways. The series builds upon Vermont’s existing quality improvement efforts and supports healthcare organizations in strengthening their suicide care practices across settings. Whether you’re just beginning this work or looking to deepen your team’s knowledge, the training series provides timely, relevant guidance for improving care and saving lives.
All sessions are free and open to healthcare providers across the state. Learn more about upcoming offerings on our "Trainings" page.
