Supporting hospital leadership and ED teams in delivering trauma-responsive care to improve experiences for patients and staff.
The Trauma Responsive Care (TRC) in Emergency Departments (EDs) training supports ED leaders and teams in creating safer, more supportive environments for patients and staff. This training is delivered by an expert team that includes two clinician educators and a peer-support specialist.
In addition to the foundational TRC training, VPQHC is also offering a two-hour, on-site session designed for hospital leadership. This version of the training focuses on organizational strategies to implement trauma responsive care, such as supporting staff well-being, improving communication, and strengthening care for individuals affected by trauma. Participants engage in scenario-based learning, and explore how to build trauma-responsive practices into organizational practice.
This initiative helps hospitals respond more effectively to the growing complexity of patient needs while also supporting the workforce delivering care in a stressful environment.
Information about our upcoming offerings can be found on the "Trainings" page.

“The ED staff and I had nothing but great things to say about the course. I appreciate the different perspective it brings to ED staff, who are often incredibly busy and can forget to slow down and see the whole person in front of them. The presenters were excellent, engaging, and obviously dedicated to their work.” Ashley, BSN, RN, CEN, Clinical Nurse Educator - Emergency Department, Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital
