  • Morning: The morning session will be focused on the Medicare Beneficiary Quality Improvement Project. The target audience for this portion includes Critical Access and Small-Rural Hospital Quality Directors and QI staff.

  • Afternoon: Afternoon presentations will address topics that are relevant to all of our Vermont hospitals. The target audience for this portion includes all Vermont hospital Quality Directors and QI staff. Please review the agenda to see which sections are most applicable to you/your staff.

Learning Objectives

Morning:

  • Enhance your understanding of national efforts to support critical access hospitals (CAHs) with quality reporting and improvement, including an overview of the Medicare Beneficiary Quality Improvement Project (MBQIP) and how it aligns with quality reporting and improvement initiatives in Vermont.

  • Identify potential strategies for your facility through a review of national trends in quality reporting and improvement.

  • Enhance understanding of the status of your facility’s performance, and trends over time, on MBQIP measures, in relation to your colleagues, and national benchmarks.

  • Discuss key themes and issues related to quality measurement in rural hospitals, and how facilities can be engaged and prepared for upcoming changes.

Afternoon:

  • Enhance understanding of Vermont statewide activities dedicated to preventing Healthcare Associated Infections and Antimicrobial Resistance.

  • Recognize key components of a successful Antimicrobial Stewardship Program and barriers that can be encountered when developing a stewardship program.

  • Identify cross-cutting strategies your colleagues have developed to improve their HCAHPS scores.
