Vermont Health Care Quality Report

The Vermont Program for Quality in Health Care (VPQ) publishes an annual report measuring the quality of health care received by Vermonters. The first Quality Report, as these publications are known, was released in 1996. By 2001, the Quality Report was recognized for its excellence by the Institute of Medicine (http://www.iom.edu/) and subsequently served as the template for the National Health Care Quality Report, now published by the Agency of Healthcare Research and Quality, US Department of Health and Human Services (http://www.ahrq.gov/).

No single report can completely cover a subject as broad and complex as our health care delivery system, so each installment of the Quality Report has focused its analysis on a particular set of topics. The Reports include recommendations either for continuing study or action.

We welcome your feedback about this report and our activities. VPQ is dedicated to continually improving the manner in which we report and inform our readers about the quality of care and caregivers in Vermont.
