"EXCEL" Meeting Minutes
February 22, 2001
Present:
Tim Thompson, M.D., Diana Peirce, Ginny Fry, Marie Kirn, Bob
Tortolani, M.D., Arnold Golodetz, Joan Madison, M.D., Joe Murray –
VPQHC, John Campbell, Madeleine Mongan and Tasseli McKay.
The meeting began with a discussion
of the conference to be held at Lake Morey June 14 and 15th. People
with ideas for speakers or agenda items, particularly for the Friday
morning ExCEL session should get them to Ginny Fry as soon as
possible. She is working on a draft brochure and will distribute it
on the list serve soon.
Arnold Golodetz suggested that we
schedule a follow-up meeting with the hospital association board to
update them on progress in forming end-of-life care teams around the
state. Arnold and Tim agreed to go to the meeting. Madeleine and
Tassi will coordinate with the hospital association.
Joe Murray, from VPQHC is working
with Sue Fulton and Cy Jordan, MD on the Vermont Quality Report this
year. They plan to follow the same basic format, but want to high
light new initiatives. It was suggested that the VEN Advance Care
Planning/Shared Decision-Making sessions should be highlighted along
with the regional initiatives and the new palliative care services
and the results of the DAD grant. Diana will meet with Joe to
discuss the Central Vermont Initiative and the DAD grant. Madeleine
will contact Denise about the data their regional project is
collecting. Tim will be the contact person for his area. John and
Arnold will work with Joe on including the VEN piece. Contact
Madeleine or Joe with any other information on end-of-life care that
should be included in the quality page this year.
